Mountain Dwarves are compact, solidly built humanoids. Though averaging three to five foot tall, their strength is greater than a humans. Their lower intelligence doesn't represent lower mental capacity, but a propensity to think thing through thoroughly and an inability to make hasty decisions. This often leads other races to think them slow.

Mountain Dwarves delve deep into the earth to find and build upon natural caves mining precious gems and minerals along the way. Their primary crafts are mining, smiting and masonry. Their stonework is so great that cities built by dwarves and later abandoned will stand thousands of years without showing signs of deteration.

Mountain Dwarves consider themselves a race apart from the surface dwellers. After the massacre of their forces by the Drow, the dwarves shut themselves into their cities and seldom deal with those above the surface. To find one that has ventured forth bodes of great happenings.
